Case Study: Moapa Energy Facility

This turnkey installation, located 20 miles north of Las Vegas, is the largest power plant
in the world that was built as a full "merchant" facility (without a PPA). It is a 1200 MW
combined cycle plant with 2x200 MW steam turbines (down exhaust).

GEA design uses two ACC systems comprised of 50 cells each. They are in two 10x5
configurations in one contiguous structure (20x5) due to the limited site area. This is the
largest ACC installation in North America with an envelope of 866’ L x 206’ W x 132’ H.

This innovative design met or exceeded the following requirements:

  • plot constraints
  • high ambient deign point (103º F)
  • 7 ppb oxygen content level (deaeration required)
  • large-diameter duct (23 foot)
  • turnkey supply and installation by GEA
